Tropical Arrangements For Summertime Parties

The warm summertime is here and a great season to bring in fresh cut tropical arrangement to a party. What a great way to show your gratitude to your host than to bring a beautiful accent piece. There are several different varieties of tropical flowers that are not only breath taking but long lasting. We often only think of Birds of Paradise with their rich orange- yellow blooms but also remember some other equally vibrant flowers when ordering. Ginger, a vibrant rich red flower, compliment any arrangement beautifully; as do the bright red, white, pink and green varieties of Anthurium. Haliconia and Hanging Haliconia are other flowers that have those rich red and yellows. Don’t forget the Protea that come in a many different varieties; yellow, pink, orange and also a red. Pin Cushion Protea, called that because it looks like bright color pins, available in reds and yellows as well. People forget that there is no hard, fast rule to using only tropicals in an arrangement. Adding some other florals such as Orchids, Sunflowers, Cala Lilies or Parrot Tulips make a nice touch too. Using exotic greens like Banana leaves, Monstera leaves, Cypress and Safari Sunset. Top off a stunning arrangement of tropicals with Bamboo or Curley Maple to make a great finish. Mark Engel, a designer at Vann Jernigan Florist in Atlanta Georgia says "Tropical arrangements are the prefect style for out door and theme parties even for the large family get together or wedding". Enjoy the fun, company and summertime food but even more, enjoy the atmosphere. If it is the in-laws you are going to see, we’ll just say, "no comment"
