Atlanta Florist Chooses Freshest Flowers for the Fall
It’s amazing that the summer time seems to go so quickly. The spring, summer flowers and
foliage are beginning to fade as the fall flowers begin to bloom. "Most people think only of
basic flowers in fall, like the simple mum" commented Mark Engel, artisan at Vann Jernigan Florist in Atlanta. (Vjflorist.com) "There are so many other beautiful blooms available in radiant colors that are well suited to fresh cut floral arrangements for the season".
Some examples are the Dahlia, Zinnia and Sunflower in rich colors, such as deep red, pink,
purple and yellow. The Dahlia can have quite an impressive size and will last for long periods
of time in fresh cut arrangements. Zinnias also have a wide variety of color for the fall. They
have the same long lasting bloom and color variety. Of course the very happy face of the
sunflower is always welcome in arrangements for the fall season. These bright domestic blooms come in several varieties and colors starting with traditional rich yellows to warm reds. We often think of Sunflowers as being very large, however the sizes vary from a small to large
blooms. Sunflowers are traditionally a very long lasting flower in a fresh cut bouquet.
Asiatic lilies in bronze, red and yellow will soon be available as well. These lilies don’t have the size and fragrance of a traditional Star Gazer lily but they give a wonderful warm color to any
arrangement.
Filler flowers of the season include Yarrow, Sedum, Bittersweet and Aster. Yarrow is a fragrant
bloom that is long lasting and easily dried. Yarrow is commonly seen in golden yellow and
white but is also available in light pink, purple and violet. Sedum, a related flower to Yarrow, come in vibrant colors that range from a soft melon to purple and red. Sedum will add an elegant finish to any vase arrangement. Bitter sweet is a bright berry available and used in the fall and winter seasons. Some varieties flower with blooms in yellow, green ,deep blue and even purple. Bittersweet adds a lovely, dramatic splash of color in winter months. Lastly remember the Aster. These small daisy like blooms, cluster well together and also last
a good long time. They can be very fragrant and explode in colors of blue, purple, deep pinks,
white, yellow and even China red. Use your search engines to see these examples of Mother
Natures fire works in bloom this season. When ordering cut flowers or just arranging them
fresh picked from your garden, remember that there’s a lot more to choose from when bringing the outdoors in as the nip in the air begins.
